Variation (scope change)
A variation is any change to the agreed scope after the quote is accepted: an addition, a deduction, or a change in quantity, rate or specification.
In practice
Variations are where margin quietly leaks. Work gets added on a site visit, nobody prices it, and it never reaches the final bill. Good practice is to record every variation, price it, and get the client's approval before the work is done.
