Roundup

10 best construction site management apps in India (2026)

The short answer

  • Site team stays on WhatsApp: Pakka (we make it), or plain WhatsApp groups for a single small site.
  • Labour, materials and petty cash for civil work: Powerplay, Onsite or buildcontrol.
  • Interior studios wanting one app for everything, including attendance and inventory: Project Studio.
  • Large fit-out contractors with procurement teams: RDash. Large projects on a global platform: Procore.
  • Drawing-led field teams on a budget: Fieldwire, which has a free plan. Buildertrend is not listed for India.

We make Pakka, and it is on this list. We say where other tools are better, and every fact about them comes from their own websites. Prices change, so we describe pricing models, not figures.

What this software does

Construction site management apps record what happens on site each day: progress, photos, issues, quality checks, materials, labour and the reports the office and client see. In India most firms start with WhatsApp groups and spreadsheets. A site app turns those messages into a record with owners and dates, so the office can see which sites are on track without calling every engineer. The main split is between apps your site team installs and uses, and approaches that keep the team on WhatsApp.

How we evaluated

  • Will the site team use it. Engineers and supervisors are busy and often on basic phones. We looked at where they report: in a new app, or in WhatsApp they already use.
  • Daily progress and reports. Daily progress reports, photos, and a view of which sites are late and why.
  • Quality and snags. QC checklists with evidence, snag lists, and whether open snags hold up handover.
  • Materials and labour. Material requests, POs and GRNs, and labour attendance where the vendor offers it.
  • Link to money. Whether site progress connects to vendor payments and client billing, or sits apart from them.
  • India fit. INR pricing, Indian languages, Tally or Zoho links, and support for Indian ways of working, only where the vendor states it.
  • Pricing model. Free plan, per user, per company or quote-based. We describe the model only, because figures change.

WhatsApp-based approaches

Your site team already lives on WhatsApp. These options keep them there instead of asking them to adopt a new app.

  1. Pakka (Ops Desk) (that's us)

    pakka.work

Best for: Interior and design-build firms whose site teams already work on WhatsApp

Pakka is a platform for Indian interior and design-build firms, made of four desks. Its Ops Desk runs site work from WhatsApp: engineers report by voice note, photo or one tap, and the office sees tasks, QC and snags update on one screen. We make Pakka, so weigh this entry with that in mind.

    Strengths

    • Nothing to install for site: voice notes, photos and videos become tasks, issues and approvals
    • QC checklists with photo, measurement and document evidence; concealed work must pass first; open snags hold the handover
    • Phases and room checklists created from the BOQ, with a client portal and an evening update on WhatsApp
    • Engineers never see money; a QC pass can make a vendor payment eligible on the Money Desk

    Limits

    • No labour attendance or payroll
    • No inventory or warehouse management: material requests, deliveries and petty cash only
    • Fewer integrations than older products, and prices are not published yet

Pricing: Founding firms: first project free. Per firm and per desk, no seat fees for site teams; prices announced before the waitlist opens.

India fit: Built for Indian interior firms; site work runs on WhatsApp; phase days suggested from Indian output norms

  2. WhatsApp groups (WhatsApp Business app)

    Website

Best for: A single small project where the owner is on site most days

Most Indian firms already run each site from a WhatsApp group with the PM, engineers, vendors and often the client. The WhatsApp Business app is free and adds quick replies, away messages, a catalogue and broadcasts. It is a messaging tool, not a project record.

    Strengths

    • Free, and everyone on site already uses it
    • Photos, voice notes and video arrive instantly
    • Quick replies and away messages in the Business app

    Limits

    • Messages sink: no owners, statuses or QC record
    • Clients in the group can see internal problems
    • Nothing links site progress to quotes or payments

    Pricing: Free app

India fit: Used almost everywhere in India; works in any language your team types or speaks

    Strengths

    • Labour attendance and payroll
    • Material requests, POs and GRNs, plus petty cash
    • Wide adoption, and an app available in nine Indian languages, according to its own blog

    Limits

    • Site staff work in the Powerplay app rather than WhatsApp
    • General construction focus: no interior quoting or design approval flow described

    • Tally, Zoho Books and SAP integration on higher plans or as an add-on
    • Multi-language support for site engineers, supervisors and workers

    Limits

    • Site staff work in the Onsite app; it positions itself as a replacement for WhatsApp
    • Annual per-user plans with a minimum billed amount, so a large site team adds cost
    • Interior quoting and client design approval are not described on its home page

Pricing: Annual plans per user with a minimum billed amount (Business, Business+); Enterprise with unlimited users

India fit: Indian company; INR pricing; Tally and Zoho Books integration; multi-language for site staff; WhatsApp support

    Strengths

    • Daily worksheet and progress reports from the phone, even offline
    • Labour and staff attendance with an HRMS module
    • Inventory, POs, GRNs and material returns booked against each site
    • Shareable A4 reports for project health and budget against cost

    Limits

    • Pricing model not published beyond a free trial

    • Less public information than larger vendors, so ask for a demo on your own project

    • Billing and cash flow tied to installed progress

How to choose.

  • Start with your site teamIf your engineers will not open a new app every day, a WhatsApp-based approach will get more reports than a richer app nobody uses. If they will, an app gives you attendance and stock features.
  • Do you need labour and payroll? If you run large labour crews, Powerplay, Onsite, buildcontrol or Project Studio cover attendance. Pakka does not.
  • Do you hold stock? If you run a store or warehouse, pick an app with inventory: Onsite, buildcontrol, Project Studio or RDash. Pakka handles requests and deliveries, not stock.
  • Interiors or civil?Interior and design-build firms need drawings, client approvals and snags before handover. Civil contractors need materials and labour first.
  • Connect site to moneyIf disputes with vendors over completed work cost you money, look for an app where checked work drives payments.
  • Try it on a live siteRun one real site for two weeks before you commit. Count how many days the engineers actually reported.

Questions people ask.

What is the best construction site management app in India?

It depends on your work. For labour-heavy civil work, Powerplay, Onsite and buildcontrol are built around attendance and materials. For interior and design-build firms whose site teams stay on WhatsApp, Pakka is built for that (we make it). Large fit-out contractors often look at RDash.

Can I manage a construction site on WhatsApp alone?

For one small site, yes. With several sites, messages sink, nobody owns an issue, and clients in the group may see internal problems. A WhatsApp-based tool keeps the team on WhatsApp but turns messages into tasks and issues with owners.

Which apps track labour attendance?

Powerplay (with payroll), Onsite (GPS attendance), buildcontrol and Project Studio (attendance with geolocation) all state labour or staff attendance. Pakka does not offer attendance or payroll.

Do these apps work in Indian languages?

Powerplay says its app is available in nine Indian languages, and Onsite offers multi-language support for site staff. With a WhatsApp-based approach, engineers speak or type in whatever language they already use.

Are global apps like Procore or Buildertrend good for Indian firms?

Procore is strong for large projects but is quoted on construction volume and states no India-specific features. Buildertrend does not name India among its countries. Fieldwire has a free plan and suits drawing-led teams.

How much do site management apps cost?

Models vary: free plans (Fieldwire), annual per-user plans (Onsite), plans by team size (Project Studio), or quotes by construction volume (Procore, Buildertrend). Pakka will price per firm and per desk, with no seat fees for site teams.

Is Pakka only a site app?

No. The Ops Desk handles site work, and Pakka also has Sales, Design and Money desks. A firm can start with any one desk.
