BOQ (Bill of Quantities)

A BOQ is the itemised list of everything a project will deliver: each item's description, unit, quantity and rate, adding up to the project value.

In practice

In interiors, a BOQ is usually grouped by room or by trade (carpentry, false ceiling, electrical, painting) and names the material and finish for each line, such as PU or laminate shutters. The gap between the client rate and your cost rate is your margin, so the BOQ is both the quote and the budget.

In Pakka

Pakka drafts BOQ lines from the client's brief and floor plan, and fills every rate from your own rate library. Lines without a rate are flagged for you. When the quote is won, the BOQ becomes the project's budget and its site phases.
